Emma Cam wins the first ever Beauty & The Geek Australia!
In a nail-bitingly close grand final Emma
and her geek partner Jeremy Reading (pictured right) narrowly beat fellow
couple, aspiring actress Lisa McMahon, 21, and her geeky partner
28-year-old Corin Storkey, a synthetic organic chemist, for the coveted
title and the $100,000 cash prize!
For Blue Mountains based Emma Cam, 22, the show helped prove
her theory that beauty is more than skin deep, while Reading, 24, says he
feels ready to find his first girlfriend.
“There’s no one yet, but there is plenty of time,” says the Canberra
resident, who will put his half of the $100,000 cash prize in the bank for
a trip overseas next year.
“I feel much more happy and confident with myself as a person. I’ve
learned I am a good person and all hot girls aren’t evil.”
Ostracised as a teenager after suffering skin disorder psoriasis, Emma Cam says
her self-esteem has grown since featuring on the program and has taught to
face her fears.
“Sometimes you don’t feel very smart and don’t want to try something
because you are scared of failing so you don’t try at all,” she says.
“But, since being on the show and trying new things it’s proven to me you
can do anything if you give it a go to begin with.”
The aspiring actress plans to save most of her $50,000 prize, but will
invest a portion of it towards her dream of heading to Los Angeles to
focus on her acting career.

as she is also known! Emma is 22 and she
is from The Blue Mountains just outside of Sydney. Emma Caminiti also
happens to be Miss Hooters Australia 2008!
Emma Cam sometimes feels like the black sheep of the family and this is
not entirely surprising as she comes from an academic family that includes
scientists, school principals and accountants.
“Truth is, I’m not that academic and sometimes I feel like I’ve let them down,”
she says. “I could definitely learn more about maths, geography
and the ins and outs of computers.”
While she’s looking forward to bolstering her brain power with the help of
her geek, she certainly has the looks department taken care of with an
impressive list of beauty pageants to her name. This includes the title
Miss Hooters Honey Australia 2008 which she won at the Hooters Honey
Contest 2008 Grand Final, having competed in front of a 250 strong crowd
at Hooters Parramatta. Over twenty Hooters Girls competed in the three
Hooters Honey Contest rounds held at Hooters Mermaid Beach, Hooters
Cronulla and Hooters Parramatta, all of whom were vying to win the Miss
Hooters Australia 2008 crown and the chance to represent Australia in the
international pageant.
 Described by judges as having a “vivacious character and
versatility” Emma charmed the judging panel with her on “stage
presence, confident answers and great presentation” in all heats. The
Hooters Honey Contest judging panel consisted of representatives from Zoo
Weekly, Ralph Magazine and Universal Magazines. The competition
featured the Hooters Girl uniform, evening wear and bikini rounds as well
as a charity auction with proceeds raised benefiting The Children’s
Hospital at Westmead.
As part of her prize, Caminiti then got to travel to Florida to join more
than 115 Hooters Girls from over 20 countries around the world competing
for the Miss Hooters International title and over USD $150,000 in cash and
prizes, including their place in the annual swimsuit calendar.
“I
was absolutely shocked but extremely delighted to be chosen as Miss
Hooters Australia” says Caminiti “and I am privileged to be given the
opportunity to represent Hooters Australia in Florida, I hope I do a good
job representing the Australia and the other Hooters Girls” Emma said at
the time of her Australian win. She did very well in the World Final as
she was crowned Miss Congeniality.
Emma Cam was also a finalist in the
2009 Australian Miss Universe competition, Emma, who works as a promotions
model and event manager, thinks she can teach the guys how to treat a
woman properly.
“I think I can teach the geeks just about anything they need to know. They
certainly need to know how to clean up after themselves and how to treat a
woman,” she says.
“I hope to teach the geeks to be more confident and outgoing. Girls like a man
who comes across as confident but not arrogant,
so the guys will have a much better chance of being successful with women if they can learn to
project confidence.”
One of Emma's dreams includes being the next Sandra Bullock and
considering her charismatic, friendly and giving
nature she will always be deserving of the Miss Congeniality title.
